Searching the Choctaw County Court Docket
Start by naming the court that owns the case. Choctaw County has no single anonymous search screen covering every court. Fifth Circuit Court District and Sixth Chancery Court District cases each have an official CourtInfo page, and both lead into the Mississippi Electronic Court System through PAMEC. A Choctaw County Justice Court citation runs through the separate nCourt tool. A ticket from Ackerman, Weir, or French Camp is a municipal-court question even if the incident happened out in the county.
Before any docket search, keep the court name, the case or citation number, and the exact name spelling close at hand. Keep any date from the notice there too. A case number beats a broad name search. Why? The PAMEC terms carry a warning. A no-match search can still return, and charge for, one page. So when the court is unclear, calling the right clerk first may save money.
- Read the ticket, summons, order, or prior filing to identify Circuit, Chancery, Justice, or Municipal Court.
- For Circuit or Chancery matters, confirm the district on its official CourtInfo page before using the PAMEC registration path.
- Use the case number when available, then confirm the court, caption, county, and latest event rather than relying on a name alone.
- For a Choctaw Justice Court citation, enter the printed citation in nCourt and follow its stated format guidance.
- Ask the clerk that keeps the file about inspection, a docket sheet, a document, or certification when remote access does not answer the question.
Choctaw County Docket Starts With Court
Choctaw County splits its court records among several offices. The Circuit Clerk holds Circuit civil, felony criminal, and appeal files. The Chancery Clerk keeps Chancery domestic, probate, guardianship, conservatorship, land, and equity records. Justice Court runs its own clerk and citation workflow, while municipal clerks keep town-level records. That split has a cost. A real case can be missing from the first docket system someone tries.
The official Fifth Circuit CourtInfo page and Sixth Chancery CourtInfo page mark the electronic court endpoints. Neither page offers anonymous case results. They work as checkpoints before registration. Each also gives the right clerk contact when a search result is restricted or a paper court record is needed.
Choose the court printed on the document first. A municipal citation should not be sent to the Justice Court merely because it arose in Choctaw County.
Inside a Choctaw County Court Docket
A docket sheet is a chronological register, not the whole case file. It shows the court, county, case number, caption, filing date, events, settings, orders, and status lines. Seeing a motion, affidavit, exhibit, or judgment listed as filed does not mean every remote viewer can open that document. Electronic files may be redacted, restricted, or sealed. Some are saved as image PDFs that no text search can read.
Read the heading before any single entry. Dates need care. Then tell filing dates, entry dates, and hearing dates apart. The latest docket event and any later order matter more than an old status line. A visible document link is an access question first. It is not proof the filing is open to everyone.
| Court and County | Shows which Choctaw County court owns the case and prevents a wrong-clerk request. |
|---|---|
| Case Number | The official identifier. Research did not confirm a public, fixed Choctaw format for a gated PAMEC search. |
| Caption and Case Type | Identifies the matter, but names and category labels do not override confidentiality rules. |
| Docket Entries | Lists filings, clerk actions, orders, notices, status flags, and other dated events. |
| Setting Information | Can show a hearing, trial, motion, or other event; confirm the latest entry or order. |
| Document Access | May indicate an electronic document, a clerk-counter route, a restricted file, or a sealed item. |
Choctaw County Docket Flags Need Context
Choctaw County Circuit and Chancery CourtInfo materials carry MEC labels. Those labels help. None is a final result. On the criminal docket you may see Arraignment Pending, Plea Pending, Probation Viol Pend, Nolle Pros Pending, Trial Pending, or SEALED. Chancery flags include Guardian Plan, Accounting Filed, Mediation, Ex Parte, Well-Being Report, and Legacy Complete. Treat each flag as a pointer toward the event or order that matters.
- Legacy Case
- An older or migrated MEC record status, not a ruling on the merits.
- Setting
- A scheduled court event. Its type and any later reset determine what it means.
- Stayed
- A proceeding or enforcement is paused by an order or legal status.
- Sealed
- Access is restricted. It does not permit an inference about the underlying material.
Note: A status flag only aids the index. Check the actual docket row and the controlling order before calling it a current outcome.
Courts That Keep Dockets in Choctaw County
Several offices keep Choctaw County court dockets. Circuit Court sits in the Fifth Circuit Court District. It hears felony criminal, Circuit civil, and lower-court appeal cases. Chancery Court belongs to the Sixth Chancery Court District. It covers domestic, probate, guardianship, conservatorship, equity, and related matters. Justice Court and each municipal court use separate local clerk paths. State appellate and federal records live apart from the county docket itself.

Choctaw County MEC and PAMEC Access
MEC is short for Mississippi Electronic Court System. It is the filing and electronic-file system named on both Choctaw district CourtInfo pages. PAMEC is the public remote-viewing layer on top of it. The official PAMEC registration page offers Attorney, Non-Attorney, and Firm Administrator paths. It is not an open countywide lookup. Registration and payment come before any remote public viewing.
The non-attorney terms list a $10 annual registration fee plus $0.20 for each page a search returns. The terms also warn. A no-match search may still return one chargeable page. Confirm the court and case number first. Only then run a broad name query. A clerk visit, a printed docket sheet, or a certified copy can cost less than page charges online.
| Access channel | Useful for | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| District CourtInfo | Confirming the Circuit or Chancery district and court contact | Not an anonymous case-search result page |
| PAMEC | Remote viewing of permitted electronic docket sheets and documents | Registration, page charges, and access restrictions apply |
| Clerk office | Inspection, copies, certification, and court-specific access questions | Local copy fees and terminal policy were not confirmed |
How to Find Choctaw County Court Dates
A term calendar is not a case-specific court date. The 2025 Mississippi Judicial Directory lists Choctaw Circuit Court terms. They start the first Monday in February and the first Monday in August. Each term runs three weeks. A personal hearing still needs confirmation from the notice, the latest docket entry, an order, the attorney, or the right clerk. The clerk posts no current public daily calendar. That holds for Choctaw Circuit, Chancery, Justice, or municipal court.
Work from the court name, case number, date, time, and setting type printed on your document. Circuit and Chancery readers can check a permitted MEC/PAMEC docket entry. Then call the clerk if a date looks stale. Justice Court nCourt may find a posted citation. It does not set a contested-hearing date. For the full sequence, use the Choctaw County court dates page.
Choctaw County Docket Settings Can Move
A setting can take many forms. It may be a hearing, a trial, an arraignment, a motion, a plea, a status conference, or an administrative event. It can also be followed later by a reset, continuance, transfer, order, or case closure. So an old date on an earlier notice proves nothing. The date may no longer control. MEC labels like Trial Pending or Plea Pending are status tags. They are not calendar appointments you can rely on.
When a Choctaw County docket entry looks inconsistent, ask the clerk who keeps it. A later order may have reset the matter. It may also have continued, concluded, or transferred it. The court offers no text reminder service or automatic notice program. Keep the ticket, the notice, and the latest verified docket date together. That habit cuts the risk of a stale setting.
Missing a setting can have serious consequences. Confirm the current date directly with the clerk or court instead of assuming the first date found is still active.
Public Access to Choctaw County Court Dockets
Access to Mississippi court records runs court by court. The PAMEC privacy policy describes the judiciary as a separate branch. Access is controlled by law, by court rule, and by each individual court. That does not make every Choctaw County docket private. It just means this. A public docket row, a remote document, a sealed case, a restricted category, and a clerk-counter copy can each take a different path.
Mississippi's Public Records Act offers useful public-record context. It is not a promise of an agency-style deadline for every court request. For the Circuit and Chancery electronic systems, the practical rules come from MEC procedures and PAMEC terms. When you ask the clerk for access, be specific. Name the court, the case number, the document, and the copy type you want.
Key access rules:
MEC administrative procedures explain remote access, redaction, sealed matters, restricted categories, and clerk-office access.
MEC and PAMEC privacy policy explains that each court and governing rule can control access.
Mississippi youth-record guidance describes the special limits on youth-court disclosure.
Public access notes: Mississippi legislative records supply the statutory backdrop, including Mississippi Code public-record and traffic-law context for Choctaw County docket questions.
Choctaw County Restricted Docket Records
A docket row you can see is not an invitation. It does not let you pull every document behind it. MEC procedures identify sealed examples, among them adoption, youth-court matters, expungements, and certain commitment proceedings. Other categories carry restricted remote documents: child custody and support, divorce, paternity, guardianship, conservatorship, minor settlements, and protection-from-domestic-abuse matters.
A non-party may see the docket sheet. The document itself stays behind a lawful clerk-counter route or stays unavailable. Do not seek or republish protected details. That includes Social Security numbers, dates of birth, minor names, account numbers, and home addresses. If you hit a permission message, a sealed notation, or a dead link, ask the clerk. A work-around is never the answer.
Docket Records at the Choctaw County Clerkâs Office
Choctaw County splits its clerk duties in two. Amy Burdine, the Circuit Clerk, handles Circuit criminal and civil cases plus appeals. Steve Montgomery, the Chancery Clerk, handles Chancery domestic, probate, guardianship, conservatorship, land, and equity matters. The two offices sit in the same courthouse. But they keep separate postal boxes and phone lines. Justice Court and municipal courts are separate custodians with their own records.
A good request names the court. Add the case number if you know it, the approximate year, and the docket entry or document you need. Say whether you want an ordinary or certified copy. The clerk publishes no online copy-fee schedule or request form, and no confirmed public-terminal policy. Call first to confirm inspection, copying, certification, payment, and turnaround.

Choctaw County Docket History and Technology
The two state trial-court systems went electronic at different times. The Fifth Circuit CourtInfo page records an MEC go-live date for Choctaw Circuit Court. That date is October 12, 2020. Sixth Chancery CourtInfo gives a date for Choctaw Chancery Court. It is August 11, 2017. An older case file can take a different path. It may not match a newer electronic one. The court and the clerk remain the essential starting points either way.
The active courthouse at 22 East Quinn Street has its own history. The Mississippi Department of Archives and History property record lists a 1941 Art Deco courthouse. It was built under the Works Progress Administration. That record documents the building. It is not a current case register. For historical case-file research, start instead with the MDAH archive's county-court search and reading-room procedures.
Note: A courthouse image or historic-property listing helps with local history. It does not confirm that a present-day docket or filing is publicly available.
Choctaw County Federal Docket Route
The state's federal venue is the Northern District of Mississippi, Aberdeen Division. The public access system is PACER. Mississippi MEC/PAMEC, Justice Court nCourt, and a municipal clerk cannot search the federal file. They cannot hold it either. PACER is the viewing layer. CM/ECF is the filing system attorneys and court personnel use. Federal cases touching Choctaw County live in a separate docket universe. The official PACER home page is where a federal docket account begins. It stands apart from the state systems described above.
For a Choctaw County reader, what that official page shows is the federal access route, not a search page for Circuit, Chancery, Justice, or municipal records. The Northern District of Mississippi court site names the federal court serving the Aberdeen Division.
The federal court route stays separate from the clerk counters in Ackerman. PACER's CM/ECF and PACER access explanation draws the line between filing and viewing.
To inspect a federal docket, use the federal system or the federal clerk, not a county state-court lookup. Check the official PACER pricing information at search time, since federal fees can change.
Federal pricing rules never set the fees for a PAMEC search or a Choctaw clerk copy.
Choctaw County Court Dockets by City
Three incorporated cities make up the Choctaw County court docket map by city. They are Ackerman, Weir, and French Camp. A city ticket starts with whichever municipal court is printed on it. None of the three towns posts an official public docket form. So for a Choctaw County citation, court date, or copy of a municipal record, the town clerk is the first call. Turn to the Choctaw County Circuit, Chancery, or Justice Court pages only when the ticket names one of those courts.
The Census incorporated-place table lists the three cities and their 2020 population figures.
The population ranking just sets the order of the city sections. It says nothing about caseload size. Nor does it mean a city's court docket can be searched online.
Ackerman Docket Search

Weir Docket Search
2020 population 441 · Call the town court path shown on the citation.
French Camp Docket Search
2020 population 256 · Ask Town Hall for the municipal court custodian.
Map and Directions to the Choctaw County Courthouse
Circuit and Chancery Court files are both kept at the Choctaw County Courthouse, 22 East Quinn Street, in Ackerman. The Circuit Clerk's counter handles felony and civil filings and appeals, while the Chancery Clerk's counter, at the same address, handles divorce, probate, guardianship, and land matters. MDAH identifies the building as a 1941 Art Deco courthouse built under the WPA and designated a Mississippi Landmark in 1998.
