Choctaw County Traffic Court Records
Behind every citation sits a court file. A traffic court record can hold the citation itself and the plea. It may also include hearing entries, a judgment, costs, payment, and any failure-to-appear note. The court printed on the ticket decides where you ask. Choctaw County Justice Court runs a defined citation search and payment route. A municipal ticket from Ackerman, Weir, or French Camp follows that town's own court path. A ticket that lands in yet another court? Confirm it with that court directly.
Court records and state licensing records are two different things. The court and its clerk keep the citation case. Mississippi DPS handles licensing, suspension, reinstatement, and reported conviction information. Neither the Justice Court citation screen nor DPS data amounts to a full countywide case register for Choctaw County.
Choctaw County Justice Court Citation Tool
For a Justice Court citation, the online route is the Choctaw County Justice Court nCourt screen. It walks through Citation Search, Terms Agreement, Payment, Receipt, and Record Search. The citation number is the required input. The tool can help you find a posted citation and reach a payment path. It is not a statewide traffic docket or a municipal portal. And a payment record there does not prove the citation was adjudicated.
For the clerk, the Mississippi State and County Officials directory lists Justice Court Clerk Katelyn Newman. Her office is at 140 Jail House Road, Ackerman, MS 39735. The telephone is 662-285-3599. The ticket itself remains the key document for the court name, date, and instructions. A brand-new citation may not show up yet.
The Choctaw Justice Court citation search lays out the court's lookup and payment workflow on its official page.
The screen works with the citation number printed on a Choctaw County Justice Court ticket. Don't substitute one court's number for another court's case.
Looking Up a Traffic Ticket
Start with the citation in hand. It names the issuing court, the citation number, and any printed appearance information. A Justice Court citation goes into the nCourt screen with its printed number. A municipal ticket means calling the town named on the ticket. Ackerman, Weir, and French Camp offer no official public municipal citation portal. And never enter a municipal number into the county Justice Court nCourt screen. The exception is a ticket that itself names Choctaw County Justice Court.
When an online search stalls, call or visit the right clerk. The local Justice Court number is 662-285-3599. Staff can explain procedure and access. But they cannot advise you on a plea, a hearing, or which result to choose. Hold onto the citation number, court name, and any receipt or reference number from a completed transaction.
Choctaw County Citation Search Fields
nCourt posts its own troubleshooting tips for the citation field. A citation may include a letter. If a number with a leading zero fails, try it again without that zero. New tickets can take five days to appear. Keep in mind these tips fit the Justice Court citation search only, and they don't set a shared format for municipal citations or other courts.
| Field or control | Requirement or visible behavior | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Citation | Required field | Enter the printed Justice Court citation |
| Letter suffix | A citation may include a letter | Match the ticket, such as 123456A |
| Leading zero | Try the number without it if the first search fails | Follow the portal's format note |
| Posting delay | Allow five days after issuance | Call the clerk if still missing |
| Terms, Payment, Receipt | Visible workflow stages | Read terms and retain a receipt reference |
| Record Search | Visible workflow label | Do not treat it as a full anonymous court docket |
Match the search to the exact court and citation on the ticket. A failed lookup can mean a new ticket, a wrong format, a different court, or another access limit.
How to Find Your Traffic Court Date
The ticket sets the first court date and names the court. Keep it even if the nCourt search later offers a payment path. The portal won't tell you whether a contested hearing is set. For a Justice Court hearing question, call 662-285-3599. A city ticket belongs to the town printed on the citation. If a notice or docket shows a later date than the ticket, ask the court. The court will say which setting stands.
| Citation number | The local identifier to preserve and use for the Justice Court citation search. |
|---|---|
| Court name | Controls whether the matter belongs with Choctaw Justice Court, a municipal court, or another court. |
| Printed date and time | The first appearance information on the ticket; confirm any later change with the court. |
| Setting type | The ticket or later notice may identify an appearance, hearing, plea, payment, or another court event. |
| Later docket event | A later order or clerk-confirmed event can control after a reset, continuance, payment, or court action. |
No general calendar replaces the ticket or the court's own confirmation for a traffic matter.
Choctaw County Municipal Ticket Routes
Ackerman, Weir, and French Camp are municipal governments. None of them posts a public citation-search form. The town printed on the ticket gets the first call. The Ackerman municipal directory lists 662-285-6251. Weir can be reached at 662-547-6123 and French Camp at 662-312-6614. Confirm those numbers with the town when you call about the current clerk or a court date. They are contact paths, not record databases.
Municipal traffic records do not flow into the County Justice Court nCourt screen. Ask the town for its municipal court clerk or records custodian. Then give the citation number, your name, and the date on the ticket. If the case moved by appeal or another order, the clerk can point you to the proper court record. A countywide location alone never picks the right traffic court.
Pay or Contest a Ticket
Paying a Choctaw County traffic ticket and fighting it are two different roads. The ticket itself plus the court's current procedure decide which one you take. The nCourt screen handles the payment side. What it does not publish is a local deadline to contest the charge, a deferred-disposition fee, a defensive-driving option, a continuance procedure, or how a hearing works. That matters. Paying a ticket usually counts as resolving it. So if you plan to contest, call the court first and ask how to preserve your hearing or plea rights before any money changes hands.
| Question | Payment path | Contest path |
|---|---|---|
| Starting record | Justice Court citation found through nCourt, if applicable | Ticket and court name, followed by clerk contact |
| What the online tool provides | Terms, payment, receipt, and citation workflow | No stated contested-hearing process |
| What to confirm | Amount, eligibility, and court instructions | Current hearing or plea procedure and any court deadline |
| Professional advice | The clerk cannot provide legal advice | Seek a licensed attorney for advice about the charge or choice |
Do not let a date pass without checking the court. A missed required appearance can create a failure-to-appear issue and can affect the court record and later state licensing process.
Choctaw County Payment Record Boundaries
To pay by phone, call the nCourt line at 877-793-7925. Its posted hours run Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern. Weekends run 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Eastern. Keep your citation and receipt numbers handy. Remember, this is a payment line only. It is not a court hearing line.
A receipt proves a transaction, nothing more. It will not show every outcome or hearing status on the case. For the citation's disposition, balance, date, or failure-to-appear status, confirm the court record itself.
Traffic Court Record vs Driving Record
Two offices keep two different records here. The Choctaw County court and its clerk hold the citation case: the docket entries, any payment, any hearing information. Mississippi DPS holds the licensing side, which may show a suspension, a reinstatement, or a reported conviction. Both records can matter at once. One agency's file never substitutes for the other's.
| Record | Custodian | What it answers |
|---|---|---|
| Traffic court case file | Justice Court clerk or municipal court custodian | Citation, court date, plea, judgment, costs, payment, and failure-to-appear entries |
| DPS licensing record | Mississippi Department of Public Safety | Licensing, suspension, reinstatement, and reported conviction information |
So split your questions. Ask the court about the citation case. Ask DPS about the licensing record and reinstatement process. The DPS FAQ puts the cost of a motor-vehicle record at $11 plus a convenience fee, separate from anything you owe the court.
Choctaw County Failure to Appear Steps
The DPS FAQ lays out a sequence for clearing things up. First, clear the court record or pay the court amount required. Second, pay the applicable DPS reinstatement fee. Third, let DPS receive confirmation. It can take weeks. Paying a DPS fee alone does not make a license valid. Start with the court, then handle the separate state step with DPS.
DPS reinstatement information shows the state-level process and its fee categories.
That DPS page covers only the state licensing portion. It does not replace confirmation from the Choctaw County court that actually holds the citation.
The Mississippi DPS license and court-record FAQ explains why both court clearance and DPS confirmation are needed.
The FAQ treats court clearance and DPS action as separate steps. That is exactly why a current Choctaw County court record still matters.
Copies and Fees
The Choctaw Justice Court posts no traffic-copy fee schedule, payment amount, or certified-copy price for its traffic cases. Use the ticket, or call the court. Ask about the citation amount, payment method, record-copy cost, certification, mailing, and court-date questions. One warning: never borrow a fee from another county. And do not assume an online payment screen lists every court cost.
| Item | Amount found | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Choctaw Justice Court citation amount | Not published in the reviewed source | Confirm from the ticket or court |
| Local court record copy or certification | Not found | Ask the correct court clerk |
| DPS failure-to-appear reinstatement fee | $100 | DPS state-level reinstatement category, not a court fine |
| DPS suspension-citation reinstatement fee | $100 | DPS state-level reinstatement category |
| DPS failure-to-pay reinstatement fee | $100 | DPS state-level reinstatement category |
| DPS DUI reinstatement fee | $175 | DPS state-level reinstatement category |
The DPS figures say nothing about a Choctaw County traffic case balance. Let the court and DPS each confirm the part they keep.
Choctaw County DPS Citation Data Limits
The Mississippi DPS Public Citations dataset is an annual eCite abstract covering 2012 through 2025, with no personal information. It can support statewide or participating-agency citation research. Still, it is no substitute for a court docket. It is not a complete Choctaw County adjudication record, and it cannot establish the result of any individual citation.
The public citation dataset is useful only within its stated limits. For a live case question, the court clerk or the court's official citation record is still the source.
Choctaw County Uniform Ticket Source
Mississippi's Uniform Traffic Ticket Law supplies context for the ticket system, but the live citation controls the local court route and date. The Legislature hosts a 2024 bill text that quotes and amends Section 63-9-21. No current official codification link is posted there. For a pending citation, rely on the ticket and the court named on it.
The Mississippi Legislature's Uniform Traffic Ticket Law bill text provides the statutory cross-check in documented form.
The legislative material gives background on the ticket system. The court named on the actual citation gives the case-specific procedure.
Choctaw County Traffic Record Retention
The MDAH municipal-record retention schedule describes permanent municipal docket and minutes series. It sets nontraffic case files at seven years after disposition or satisfaction. Traffic cases are kept three years after audit release following disposition or payment. Older disposal requires MDAH authorization. Even so, that schedule is a records-management rule. It is not a promise that every older municipal ticket is online or instantly available.
For an older Ackerman, Weir, or French Camp ticket, contact the town or court custodian. Ask whether the record is still held locally or needs archive guidance. For a current Justice Court citation, the local path remains nCourt, the ticket, and the Justice Court clerk. One note: retention categories do not establish the current status of any individual citation.
